The flea markets are one of the goldmines when it comes to finding stuff for my still-life setup. but when I see a nice figurine in a still-life painting, that I apparently cannot get hold of, but feel a need to use it in one of my still-life paintings, I try to replicate it in modeling clay, and then use it in my own setup. I also like these small wooden mannequins to sketch ideas from or have them posing in a still life painting.
I even experiment with painted images as a part of my setups, still aiming for that presence of absence feeling, that is haunting me, in a good way that is.
